Stradalex's Chief Executive Officer has been admitted to the DIFC Courts' Register of Legal Practitioners. The DIFC Courts are an independent, English-language common law judiciary operating within the Dubai International Financial Centre, with jurisdiction over civil and commercial disputes connected to the Centre and, by agreement of the parties, disputes with no DIFC connection at all.
Admission to the Register is the qualification the DIFC Courts require before a practitioner may appear and represent a party directly in proceedings before them. With that admission in place, Stradalex is positioned to act as counsel of record in DIFC Court matters, rather than solely in an advisory capacity alongside locally admitted counsel.
Available to accept instructions for respondents. Stradalex's Chief Executive Officer is available to accept instructions on behalf of respondents subjected to claims filed before the DIFC Courts — including in respect of commercial disputes, contractual claims, shareholder and corporate disputes, and applications for interim relief such as freezing and disclosure orders. Instructions can be taken at any stage of proceedings, including on an urgent basis where a claim or interim application has already been served.
Why it matters for respondents. A respondent served with DIFC Court proceedings is subject to strict procedural timetables, and the DIFC Courts' rules differ in material respects from those of the onshore Dubai courts and from civil law systems more broadly. Engaging counsel admitted to the Register removes the need to coordinate separately between international counsel and DIFC-admitted local counsel, and allows a single point of contact to manage the defence of a claim from first response through to trial or settlement.
Stradalex continues to work alongside local counsel where a matter also touches onshore UAE proceedings or other jurisdictions, combining direct DIFC Courts representation with the firm's broader cross-border dispute practice.
